It’s a bit of a homecoming for Masai Ujiri.
The Nuggets have named Ujiri, a scout for the team from 2003-07 in his first significant NBA stint, executive vice president of basketball operations. He steps in after the Nuggets in August elected not to renew the contracts of vice presidents Mark Warkentien and Rex Chapman and announced Josh Kroenke would be elevated to an ownership role. Josh Kroenke, son of owner Stan Kroenke, will take over in the wake of his father becoming full owner of the St. Louis Rams and will have an increased role in personnel.
But Ujiri will handle the day-to-day operations of the team. He previously was assistant general manager for the Toronto Raptors.

The Denver Nuggets are telling teams that Carmelo Anthony isn't on the market, ESPN.com reports . Five unnamed teams interested in Anthony told ESPN that the Nuggets are ending conversations before they even begin, saying they "don’t want to engage in Melo talks." The report indicates that the Nuggets want new VP of basketball operations Masai Ujiri to try and reconcile with Denver's star in the hopes that he will re-sign with the club.
